TMT Employee Appreciation Day

The entire Las Vegas Valley TMT employee group met at a local restaurant for their TMT Day. Of course, our hard-workers were part of it.

Heritage’s other “Gun Club.” The caulking gun crew took care of all the loose caps on the outdoor pool planters. The planters really need a complete masonry repair, but that will be for another day. The caps are glued on safely.

Left to Right:  John Dimarco, Richard Mellin, George Kelchak, Gil Donatelli, Wes Wietgrefe, Jim Reinholdt, Scott Nichols and Phil Scmidt who probably is in the pool. X Ecker is taking the photo.

What's better than ugly cones? New planters!!

Once again it’s Heritage volunteers to the rescue. New planters installed at the main gate. Jim Reinholdt and Seth Finkel did the hard work and X Ecker took the photos. Diane Ecker also helped by installing the reflector tape on the planters to help avoid collision by visitors.

Just a reminder...

If your trash can has a broken lid, or wobbly wheel, or cracks, etc., Republic will bring you a new one for free. Just call them at (702) 735-5151.

This is costing us money.

Please folks, do NOT dump your trash or recycling in the Clubhouse dumpsters or in the area surrounding the dumpsters. Recent increases in misuse have caused us to be fined by Republic Services. They take a photo of the violation, send it to us and charge us accordingly. We are all paying for the abuse. Here is a photo of two bushes removed by a resident and then thrown in the recycling bin. They will have to be removed. Our janitorial services do NOT pick up trash outside of the dumpsters. We really don’t want to have to review security camera footage to identify residents and then fine them. We can do better. X Ecker, H.O.A. President

Volunteering to the max.

Congratulations, Dwayne Lairmore, who won the President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award at the recent Veteran's dinner. Carol Herrington also received the Silver award, but no photo is available.

More shopping and restaurants coming to Green Valley

A 100,000-square-foot retail center in Green Valley Ranch called The Cliff will replace an aging office complex in Henderson. Design plans have been unveiled for the open-air retail center at 2500 to 2550 Paseo Verde Parkway just off the 215 Beltway at St. Rose Parkway. The $30 million redevelopment will feature restaurants, including a 26,000-square-foot open but covered outdoor dining lounge, shopping, health and wellness stores over 25 retail spaces and spearheaded by Partners Capital and CNR Retail.Construction is slated to begin this October with the center opening in summer 2025, pending construction permit approval from the city of Henderson. “This location is what restaurants and retailers dream of,” said Chris Clifford, the development lead for CNR Retail. “Not only is Green Valley Ranch one of the most sought out destinations for businesses in the City of Henderson, but the neighborhood is also characterized by younger households with some of the highest average incomes in Nevada.” Henderson is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, according to U.S. Census Bureau statistics. West Gate Access

West Vehicle Gate Access: The West Vehicle Gate located at Beethoven Ridge is for resident use only! You must have a valid RFID tag to enter this gate or you could be subject to a violation notice and fine. When you are scheduling visitors or vendors such as ride shares, food delivery or other services please advise them that they will need to enter through the main gate located at 661 New Heritage St. GPS will sometimes route directions to the West Vehicle Gate where they will be unable to enter the community and potentially unable to continue through for service. We appreciate your attention to this safety issue.

Please... after you pick up after yourself, pick up after your dog.

It’s a little hard to believe, but we’re having a problem with chewing gum around the clubhouse. Unless birds are dropping it from the sky, people are actually spitting their gum out on the sidewalks and other paved areas. This gets really messy on the bottom of a shoe. Please use the trash bins.

Speaking of gum… some popular sugar-free chewing gums contain Xylitol as their main ingredient for sweetening. Xylitol is poisonous to dogs and can cause major issues very quickly. Save the dogs – use the trash cans.

What are the most common pickleball injuries?

The overall rate of injuries is likely much higher than previously thought. The new analysis only looked at fractures, not the most common soft tissue injuries like sprained ankles or debilitating knee injuries such as damage to the ACL, or anterior cruciate ligament. Other common pickleball injuries include rotator cuff injuries, worsening of arthritis, Achilles tendon tears/strains and foot fractures. The vast majority of the fractures found in the new study, 92%, occurred during falls.

Women, especially those ages 65 and older, were more likely than men to experience a fracture. Most of those fractures were in upper-body bones, such as those in the forearms and hands. The researchers suspect they were related to osteoporosis or other bone-thinning conditions.

Even though women had more fractures overall, men were 2.3 times more likely to be admitted to the hospital after breaking a bone. Ghattas and her colleagues suspect that’s because men’s fractures tended to be in bones of the lower body, such as the hip and femur, which are more likely to result in a hospital stay than fractures in the upper body.
